Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely absence of disease or infirmity, providing basic health well being to all men, women and children in the state is therefore, the ultimate objective of Health services. Efforts have been made continuously to achieve this goal and to provide primary, secondary and tertiary health care to the people of Gujarat. |

| Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat has created wide network of health & medical care facilities in the state to improve quality of life of people of Gujarat. |

| Gujarat state has already implemented various schemes like chiranjivi yojana, Bal Bhog Yojana, Nutritious Food with Vitamins Yojana, Mamta Abhiyan, Janani Suraksha Yojana, School health checkup yojana for saving the precious lives of mothers & children in order to reduce maternal and infant deaths. |

| Government of Gujarat is committed to provide Emergency response service through GVK EMRI Nodal agency under ppp model, 108 Emergency service has become a synonym of trust in responding to all kind of Emergencies. |

| Government of Gujarat has also established a society namely Rogi kalian samiti for helping patients below the poverty line with medical care. |

| Government of Gujarat is also working to create adequate infrastructure for medical & paramedical education and to promote Ayush as supplement to modern system of medicine. |

| I hope that the collective & effective efforts of the department of health & family welfare in the state, will help to create awareness on self care, family care and community care of the people of the state and such efforts will help to increase the human development index of the Gujarat State. |
