| Introduction : |
| State has been implementing
National Surveillance Programme for Communicable
Diseases under guidance of National Institute of
Communicable Diseases, Delhi. |

| Aims : |
|
| 1. |
To strengthen field level
proactive measures to promote community
participation, strengthen district level
and sub-district level communication. |
| 2. |
To establish database surveillance
to detect early warning signals, to
give rapid response against epidemic
prone diseases for prevention and control.
|
| 3. |
To improve laboratory based surveillance
at various levels and capacity building
for prompt diagnosis and treatment services
to reduce morbidity and mortality due
to waterborne, water related and other
communicable diseases. |

| With the help of NICD, NDSP
project has been launched in Gujarat State since
1997-98. Gradually more and more districts are included
