NSPCD - National Surveillance Programme for Communicable Diseases
Introduction :
State has been implementing National Surveillance Programme for Communicable Diseases under guidance of National Institute of Communicable Diseases, Delhi.
 
Aims :
1. To strengthen field level proactive measures to promote community participation, strengthen district level and sub-district level communication.
2. To establish database surveillance to detect early warning signals, to give rapid response against epidemic prone diseases for prevention and control.
3. To improve laboratory based surveillance at various levels and capacity building for prompt diagnosis and treatment services to reduce morbidity and mortality due to waterborne, water related and other communicable diseases.
 
With the help of NICD, NDSP project has been launched in Gujarat State since 1997-98. Gradually more and more districts are included :
