Introduction
 

1. General Information:

State Institute of Health and Family Welfare is apex training institute of Department of Health & Family Welfare, Gujarat state. It is a collaborating training institute recognized by NIHFW, Delhi.

Situated on fast developing Sarkhej – Gandhinagar highway, near Sola General Hospital and Opposite R. C. Technical Institute at Ahmedabad, the Institute has a main building with training and administration wings. The lush green garden surrounds the main building and a hostel for 50 persons. The campus also has staff quarters.

2. Developmental Background:

The Institute started as Regional Family Planning Center in 1958 and was upgraded as a Health & Family Welfare Center in 1975. In 1991, it has taken a current status of SIHFW under IPP VII project.

 
Main functions
 
• To provide trainers’ training to the trainers of all the training centers.
• To Develop teaching – learning materials
• To Review & Revise the training curricula
• To Act as in service training institute for medical & para medical personnel
• To Run basic courses for various health workers and supervisors.
