The
growing, nurturing, harvesting and collecting of the raw
herbal materials lead to the finalities of pharmaceutical
formations. The Government Ayurved pharmacy at Rajpipla
is an independent unit working for the preparation of herbal
medicines.
This unit was established in 1982. The Choorn
(powder), Gutika (Tablet ) and Kwath
(decoction) are prepared there. Medicines worth Rs. 50
lacs are produced yearly on an average.
The same sort of preparation is continued on a small
scale at Govt. Ayurved college, Vadodara. The
medicines prepared at these places are supplied and used at
Govt. Ayurved hospitals and dispensaries of the state.
Besides, Gujarat Ayurved Vikas Mandal, an autonomous body
constituted by Government of Gujarat, runs its own pharmacy
at Junagadh and at Ahmedabad. This pharmacy meets as
much as 60% of the total demand of Govt. hospitals and
dispensaries.
In tribal area of Dangs, at Ahwa, a pharmacy is
being run on co-operative basis and it supplies 30 % of the
total requirement of the Govt. hospitals and dispensaries. A
large number of the tribal people get employment through
this pharmacy. With the increasing speed of development in
the field of science and medicine, Ayurved has also made
tremendous progress. In the field of preparation of
