There
are 10 Botanical gardens in the state, where the endangered
and almost extinct medicinal plants are planted, nurtured
and conserved with all essential care and attention.
Availing, keeping, picking and making of herbal medicines
is a job with a difference and requires a beautiful balance
between brawn and brain. Government, therefore, takes
complete care in allotting this task to the
personnel exhibiting balance, quality and choice. The
results of this particular care in selection is that these
medicinal gardens are providing us the scarce and
disappearing herbal medicines like Ashtavarg (Meda,Mahameda,Kakoli,Kshirkakoli,
Moosali, Salam,etc ), Yasthimadhu, Vanshlochan,
Guggulu,Ativish, Jatamansi, Revandchini, Rasna, ,
Ashwagandha and Sarpgandha, etc. The medicinal plants
are distributed free of cost to the people, who are
interested in cultivation of herbs. Every year approximately
75000 plants are distributed through these gardens. The
students of Ayurved colleges visit these gardens during the
course of their education for practical knowledge .
