Introduction

Medical services are functional in the state since the last five decades (1951-52) under the administrative control of Health and Family Welfare Department. Commissioner is the head of department and Additional Director (Medical) is the program officer of medical services. Chief District Medical Officer cum Civil Surgeon is the head of district hospital and technical supervisor of all the government hospitals of the district including CHC and Grant-in-aid hospitals. Superintendent is the head of Taluka hospital. Dispensaries are run by class-II Medical Officers.

 

Hospital Network of Medical Services

Medical services are meant for curative care via diagnosis and treatment. Medical Relief services mainly are centered in the urban areas of the state and are delivered through the following hospitals.

District Hospitals

All district hospitals have Indoor-Patients and Outdoor-Patients departments. Round the clock casualty services with post-mortem facilities are provided. Patients are carefully treated by the specialist Doctors and Para Medical staff of the hospital. Latest equipments and Operation theatres are also available at the hospitals.

 
Taluka Hospitals
In taluka hospitals limited specialists like surgeon, gynaecologist, pediatrician & dental surgeon are available. More over the department approaches the local specialists who are ready to serve people on honorary basis.
